Sunburn on the face can range from a mild pinkness to a deep, angry red. The skin feels hot to the touch and can be tight, itchy, or even painful. In more severe cases, blisters can form. Beyond the immediate discomfort, sunburn can leave the skin feeling dry and peeling in the days following, and it significantly increases the risk of long-term skin damage and skin cancer. It's a clear sign that the skin has been overexposed to the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays.

Causes of Sunburn on the Face

UV Radiation: It damage the DNA in the skin's outer layer, leading to inflammation and redness.

Exposure Time: The longer your face is exposed to UV radiation, the greater the risk and severity of sunburn. Even short periods of intense sun exposure can cause a burn.

Skin Type: People with lighter skin have less melanin, the pigment that protects against UV damage. This makes them more susceptible to sunburn. However, anyone can get sunburned, regardless of skin color.
